Entry:  January Review    Blog:  deborah's blog

Hi Anna, I agree about the blog community. It's also a wonderful source of information and ideas and it lets my children keep up with life here. I've about 20 blogs I read regularly. Rolling Eyes I was spending ages checking each day to see if they had been updated when one of my children kindly pointed me in the direction of Google reader. It's accessed from the 'more' dropdown at the top left of the Google homepage. All you need to do is list the blogs you like to read and it tells you when they have a new entry. It's saved me so much time. Only problem is I keep adding more blogs! Happy blogging

Hello Deborah-Thank you- very much appreciated the link you passed on.What I find so interesting about the Blog phenomenon is the wonderful way in which the little fragments of anothers life, seem to gather together with a deepening sense of 'community' I think virtual community works! All the best Anna

Entry:  First Test Entry    Blog:  Steve and Dennis's blog

Hi Steve and Dennis, The system for uploading and storing images in Blogs is different to the system on the main forum. The Blog images are actually stored on our server and to limit the amount of space used and avoid slowing the loading time for the pages we have restricted the image sizes to 130KB max and 500x500 pixels. This is plenty big enough for display on the web. Your digital camera should include some image resizing software, but we can also recommend these free packages: http://www.freeimagebrowser.com/resize/ http://www.vso-software.fr/products/image_resizer/

Hi, just wondering when your next post will be? Have read the rest with interest as I (Chris) with my partner, Corinne, bought a smallholding in April last year (in the cold North-East of England) and have been having some of the same experiences as you (learning to drive a tractor, how to do fencing without doing macrame with the wire - I tend to fix 1 end then unroll it as required - etc). Sorry to hear about Blanche - hope everything else going well. Chris

But these are good, they eat the other nasties Very Happy http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/House_centipede Will follow up on the snake link though. I've only seen grass snakes and they've been up to four foot long. Think I'll make sure I've got my steel toecaps on before wandering through any long grass though!
