I wonder if you might be able to help? I'm a 31 year-old ex-treasurer, and have recently moved to the Lot with my family. I want to learn a trade and am happy to earn a unspectacular salary in return for experience. Having just worked on our own barn conversion I have experience and skills in construction, plumbing, electrics, carpentry, plastering, tiling and decorating. I can promise you commitment, energy and enthusiasm. I am strong, fit, have decent French language skills, very good computer skills (I can build and maintain websites), and, perhaps most importantly, I am really keen to learn and not afraid to graft. I am based in Salviac (Lot/Dordogne border) and would be happy to travel to work within an hour's radius. If you would like a willing and able apprentice, please send me an email at cambeleve@wanadoo.fr
THANKS

Be warned if you are paid to do any work as an tradesman here in France and not registered with the appropriate Professional Trade Organisation, tax/National Insurance offices let along with the local Chamber of Commerce you could find the Police knocking on your door!!
There are many ex Brits coming here to France who simply don't understand how the French system works and sadly quite prepared to work the "Black Market".Whats more I know and heard from others that some ex Brits and the local French trades guys who will report you if they suspect that work is being carried out by non-registered black marketeers...can't blame them after all they are paying their taxes and sky high N.I contributions.
You need to get registered and issued with a siret Number to be safe...Do understand unemployment is running at around 11% in France and the French approach to Free enterprise for small business/traders leaves you in a daze!!...likewise French Trades people are very hostile to what they see as outsiders taking away their livelyhood...it's your choice but if you get caught the penalties can be serve!
Best of Luck!

| Maybe I can help you because my brother in law is a license plumber and I think he can help you. I will discuss that to him.
