Any tips on a good fabric shop anywhere between Brive and Montauban, Fumel and Figeac? Preferably not too expensive.
I need to make some new curtains and make some use of my lovely sewing maching, purchased two years ago and only about 1.5 km on the clock!!!

Hi Sue.
We purchased some good material at "interdifusion" in Biars just north of L'clerc they have a large stock with all the trimmings and they had ours madeup at a very silly price. their stock changes very fast so you should at some time find something to suit. Other than that there is a good shop in Brive (last visited a while ago) on entering the town from Vayrac follow the one way and turn towards Matmort its on the left.
good sewing

| There is a good fabric shop just outside Sarlat that has plenty of stock and reasonable prices. Can't remember the address but if you approach from the south you need to head right on the roundabout next to the Viaduct and it's about 3km on the right, almost into the countryside. Also Libos (Fumel) Market on Thursdays has fabrics available (especially) Arabic style with wonderful rich colours. Finally there is another fabric shop in Villeneuve sur Lot in the "Back lanes" just off the main High street unless it's since closed. It is expensive!

Concerning the textile shop in Brive, sorry but I can't recall the name but on decending the hill on the road from Vayray/Quatre Route at the first lights turn right and it is on the left.
For those interested there is also a good one in the centre of Figeac

Hi,
There's a great shop in Montauban. You take the first exit off the motorway. It's just off the roundabout next to the Troc. If you had continued from the roundabout you'd reach Brico Depot and all the other retail parks. Sorry it's a little vague but it is quite easy to find.

For other readers than Sue:-
there's a fabric shop next to the Intermarche at Terre Rouge (east Cahors) left off the D911 as you head out of Cahors. Turn left in the 30km per hour limit - pharmacie on your right.
I thought it like an Aladins cave - but I AM easily pleased!
